How to Set Up An AdSense Account: Let Your Blog Make Money For You

Most of the bloggers are well aware of AdSense but to the newbies-

AdSense is an advertisement program from Google for the publishers. In this program, contextual advertisements are placed on your blog or website, and every time a visitor clicks on these ads, the publishers get paid.

There are many alternatives to Adsense, but none even came close to being as good as it is. But getting approved with AdSense isn’t a piece of cake.

You must have a clean website with appropriate content and traffic. And your website should have all the important pages like About us, policies, disclaimer if required. And you must be 18+ years of age.

If you have the checklist done, it’s time to create the AdSense account.

How to Create AdSense Account?

Here, I am going to take you through the process of getting AdSense for your website step-by-step.

Sign Up For AdSense

First, you need to go to the AdSense sign-up page. There you will find the option of creating a new Google account. But, you can use the Gmail account you already have.

However, if you own a custom domain name and you are using the domain email for Gmail apps, you must use that email for signing up for your AdSense account. Having an email address that is domain specific, especially if it is an admin email address, it will increase the chances of getting approval by three times.

Entering Website Details

Now that you have signed up for AdSense, you will need to enter the details of your website. The form is simple, enter your website address without the HTTP part and select the language for the content on your blog.

Enter AdSense Contact Details

When you save and continue to the next page, you will need to enter your contact details. It is important to mention the payee name, and it must be the same as the name under the bank account. AdSense will send you EFT payments or cheques under that name. You won’t be able to change the payee name later.

Read the AdSense policies and check all the boxes. When you have done that, submit the form. Review the details and make sure everything is correct.

Sign-up With Your Email Account

Use your current email address or create a new one. And as I have mentioned before that domain specific email addresses have a higher chance of getting approved. When you are done signing up for AdSense, it’s time to put Adsense codes on your blog.

You will be sent an AdSense pin after the AdSense team has reviewed your application. This usually takes 1-2 months.

After that, you would need to submit the information related to your tax and enter the AdSense pin you were sent on your email ID after reaching the threshold of $10, and you will start getting the payments after you reach the threshold of $100.

Ways Of Generating Revenue From AdSense

There are two ways in which you can generate revenue using AdSense, and that is Cost Per Click (CPC), and Cost Per Impressions (CPI).

CPC  is also called Pay Per Click (PPC). This model is meant to direct traffic to your website. In the PPC model, you get paid when the visitors click on the advertisement.

Cost Per Impression is also called CPM or Cost per Thousand Impressions. It is the cost incurred by every probable and potential customer who have viewed the ad.

How AdSense Works on YouTube?

AdSense is a simple and efficient way of earning from your blog or YouTube channel. Your channel must have at least 10,000 views. It could be either on the one video or all the videos collectively.

The content on your channel shouldn’t be on controversial or banned topics and should be original. You can put the link of other sites to your channel if they are the part of your post.

You must avoid posting copyrighted content on your site, even if they are owned by you. Use details on your video and try to post regularly.

To apply for the AdSense account, click on your profile icon and go to creator studio. Select the channel option and enable the Monetization option.

Agree to the terms and click on start and then on next. You will be asked to select your YouTube account and add the details. Leave the URL field blank, check a box under Get more out of AdSense option, select the country, and finally agree to the terms and create the account.

After your account is enabled for Monetization, associate your AdSense account and click on Next. Now select your Google account, describe your content and submit the application. You are done.
